What is ADAS Calibration?

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, the suite of safety technologies in modern vehicles that includes lane departure warning, forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and more. These systems rely on precisely calibrated cameras and sensors to function correctly.

When any of these components are disturbed, after a windshield replacement, collision repair, suspension work, or even alignment, they must be recalibrated to manufacturer specifications. Driving with improperly calibrated ADAS can make these safety systems unreliable or non-functional.

When Do You Need ADAS Calibration?

Static vs. Dynamic Calibration

Static calibration is performed in our shop using specialized targets at precise distances and angles. Dynamic calibration requires driving the vehicle at specific speeds under specific conditions. Many vehicles require both. Our technicians know which method your vehicle requires and have the equipment to perform it correctly.

All Makes & Models

We calibrate ADAS systems on vehicles from Toyota, Honda, Ford, GM, Subaru, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Hyundai, Kia, and more. If you’re unsure whether your vehicle needs calibration, call us at (508) 820-0779 and we’ll help you find out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need ADAS calibration after a windshield replacement?
Almost certainly yes, if your vehicle has a front-facing camera mounted to the windshield. This includes most vehicles made after 2016 with features like lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, or traffic sign recognition. Many insurance policies now cover ADAS calibration as part of windshield replacement.
What happens if ADAS is not calibrated?
Your safety systems may malfunction or give false alerts. For example, automatic emergency braking might not engage when needed, or lane departure warning might trigger unnecessarily. These aren't just annoyances, they can be genuine safety risks.
How long does ADAS calibration take?
Static calibration typically takes 1–2 hours. Dynamic calibration requires a road test and may take longer. We'll give you a time estimate when you book.
Does insurance cover ADAS calibration?
Many insurance policies cover ADAS calibration when it follows a covered repair like windshield replacement. Check with your insurer or ask us, we can help you navigate the process.
